This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what you may not do when using Pricebook.vet. It forms part of the Terms of Service between you and Helpsome Limited (trading as Helpsome.ai), operator of Pricebook.vet.
The spirit of the policy is simple: use Pricebook.vet to help your veterinary practice meet the CMA's pricing-transparency rules honestly. Do not use it for anything else. If you are not sure whether an activity is acceptable, ask us.
#1. Who this applies to
This AUP applies to every user of Pricebook.vet - practice owners, admins, editors, and anyone who embeds the widget or consumes Published Data. Practices are responsible for the behaviour of users they invite into their accounts.
#2. What you must not do
#2.1 Unlawful or harmful content
You must not use Pricebook.vet to upload, publish, or distribute content that:
- is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, or infringes intellectual-property rights;
- is misleading about prices, availability, or the identity/ownership of your practice;
- targets or harasses any person;
- contains malware, exploits, or deceptive links.
#2.2 Misleading or CMA-non-compliant pricing data
You must not use Pricebook.vet to:
- publish prices you do not actually charge, or prices engineered to mislead pet owners;
- omit services from CMA-mandated categories in order to appear cheaper than competitors - in particular, you must not use Pricebook.vet's features to suppress or hide mandated categories (consultations, vaccinations, neutering, dentistry, diagnostic tests, prescription fees, cremation) when you do provide those services;
- misrepresent practice ownership (independent vs corporate group) - this disclosure is a CMA requirement and is surfaced publicly by Pricebook.vet;
- publish data on behalf of a practice you do not control or are not authorised to represent.
If you believe CMA-compliant publication is impossible in your circumstance (for example, truly variable specialist work), use the "price on application" or "from" modes honestly - do not fabricate a number.
#2.3 Abusing the embed widget
You must not:
- embed the widget on domains you do not control or are not authorised to use;
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent the domain-whitelist mechanism (for example, by proxying the widget through your servers, scraping the JSON and re-rendering without attribution, or spoofing the
Refererheader); - repackage, modify, or re-bundle the widget JS in a way that strips attribution or breaks analytics beacons;
- embed the widget in a way designed to inflate load counts artificially.
#2.4 Abusing our sending capability
Where Pricebook.vet sends email or other messages on your behalf (for example, publish confirmations, invitations to team-mates, customer-facing notifications if offered in the future), you must not use this capability to:
- send unsolicited marketing (spam) to anyone;
- send messages impersonating another practice or Pricebook.vet itself;
- harvest addresses or use addresses obtained unlawfully.
#2.5 Scraping, reverse engineering, and interference
You must not:
- scrape the dashboard, widget, or other Pricebook.vet surfaces in a way that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure or that bypasses authentication;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble Pricebook.vet except to the extent that UK law expressly permits it;
- attempt to find or exploit security vulnerabilities in Pricebook.vet except through a reasonable and responsible disclosure process (see section 5);
- use Pricebook.vet to test, launch, or propagate attacks against any other system.
#2.6 Account abuse
You must not:
- share account credentials across people - each user must have their own account;
- create multiple accounts to circumvent rate limits, fair-use limits, or suspensions;
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute Pricebook.vet as a white-label product.
#2.7 Anything illegal
You must not use Pricebook.vet for any purpose that is unlawful in the United Kingdom, or in any jurisdiction where your practice or your users operate.
#3. Consequences
If we reasonably believe you have breached this AUP we may, depending on severity:
- Contact you to discuss the issue and ask you to fix it.
- Take down specific content (for example, a particular misleading price list) while leaving the rest of your account intact.
- Throttle or suspend your account or specific features.
- Terminate your account under the Terms of Service.
- Notify a regulator (for example, the CMA or the RCVS) where we are required to or where the breach is a matter of public interest.
For minor or inadvertent breaches our default is to talk first.
#4. Reporting abuse
If you see content on Pricebook.vet - in the widget on a practice's website, or anywhere else Published Data is exposed - that you believe breaches this AUP, tell us at support@helpsome.ai. Include the URL, a description of the issue, and your contact details.
#5. Security disclosures
If you have found a security vulnerability in Pricebook.vet, please report it responsibly to support@helpsome.ai. Do not publicly disclose until we have had a reasonable chance to fix it. We will acknowledge receipt promptly and give you an update on a fix.
#6. Relationship to other policies
This AUP sits alongside:
- the Terms of Service - the main agreement;
- the Fair-Use Policy - volume limits for the free tier;
- the Privacy Policy - how we handle personal data.
Where there is a conflict, the Terms of Service prevail.
#7. Changes
We will update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app.
